How to Create a Paysasa Account and Complete KYC Verification

Guides

A step-by-step guide to signing up for Paysasa, setting your PIN, completing KYC verification and getting ready to send, receive and collect payments.

Whether you want to send money to friends, save towards a goal, run a chama or collect payments for your business, everything on Paysasa starts with an account. This guide walks you through signing up, securing your account and completing KYC (Know Your Customer) verification.

Why verification matters

Verification protects you and everyone you transact with. It makes it harder for fraudsters to open accounts, and it is required before you can use many money features. On Paysasa:

  • KYC is required before taking payments as a business.
  • Many features — such as extra wallets, higher limits and business collections — need verification.
  • Personal withdrawals may also require KYC.

Step 1: Create your account

  1. Go to paysasa.com and click Get started, or go directly to the sign-up page at app.paysasa.com.
  2. Enter the details requested, such as your name, email address and phone number.
  3. Create a strong password that you do not use anywhere else.
  4. Confirm your email or phone number using the code you receive.

Tip: Use a phone number you control and plan to keep. It is used for security checks and notifications.

Step 2: Secure your account

Before you move any money, take a few minutes to lock things down:

  • Set your wallet PIN. Sending, withdrawing, converting and similar actions usually ask for your PIN. Choose one that is not easy to guess, such as your birth year.
  • Review active sessions and devices in your settings, and log out of any device you do not recognise.
  • Turn on notifications so you know about activity on your account.

Remember: Paysasa staff will never ask for your PIN or one-time codes. Do not share them with anyone.

Step 3: Complete KYC verification

  1. Sign in and open KYC verification from your dashboard (app.paysasa.com/dashboard/kyc).
  2. Follow the on-screen steps. These typically include providing your personal details, uploading an identity document and taking a selfie.
  3. Review your information carefully before submitting.
  4. Wait for the review to complete. You will see your verification status in the app.

Common reasons verification is delayed

  • Blurry or cropped photos of documents
  • Names that do not match between your account and your document
  • Expired documents
  • Selfies taken in poor light or with glare

If your submission is rejected, read the reason shown, fix the issue and try again.

Step 4: Set up your wallets

Once you are signed in, open Wallets to see your balances.

  1. Tap Create wallet if you need an additional wallet.
  2. Choose a currency enabled for your account — often KES, sometimes others such as USD.
  3. Choose the wallet type when offered, such as individual or savings.
  4. Fund it using Top up — for example via M-Pesa for KES wallets or PayPal for USD.

You can then send money to other users, phone numbers or tills, withdraw to M-Pesa and view everything in Transactions.

Step 5: Add a business (if you plan to collect payments)

If you want to accept payments from customers, set up a business:

  1. Open Businesses in your dashboard.
  2. Create a business and enter its name and type (for example, an independent brand, marketplace seller or NGO).
  3. Save and open the business to manage its wallet, team and settings.
  4. Follow any business verification prompts. Unverified businesses may be blocked from collecting payments until verification is complete.

Once your business is verified, you can create payment links, invoices, checkout sessions and more. Verified businesses can also earn Gold or Platinum trust badges after review.

Step 6: Choose the modules you want to see

Paysasa includes many features. If something you need is missing from your home screen, check Module settings in your dashboard to switch modules on or off.

Troubleshooting

  • "KYC required" message: complete verification, then try the action again.
  • A currency is not listed: only currencies enabled for your account appear.
  • Cannot create a business wallet: create or join a business first.
  • Forgotten PIN: use the recovery options in settings.

For anything else, contact Paysasa support through paysasa.com/contact.

Conclusion

Creating a Paysasa account takes minutes, and completing KYC unlocks the features that make it useful — from sending money and saving to collecting payments for your business. Secure your account, verify your identity and you are ready to go.
