More customers want their shopping brought to them: groceries to the house, building materials to the site, medicines to the office. Offering delivery can grow your sales, but only if you can keep track of what needs to go where. We built delivery options at checkout, delivery profiles and a Deliveries board into Xduka POS to track fulfilment.
Delivery profiles
Delivery profiles are set up in Settings → Delivery. Each profile has:
- A Name, such as "Within estate" or "CBD".
- A Fee (KES).
- A Min order (KES).
- An ETA (minutes).
You can mark one profile as the Default profile. If no delivery profiles exist yet, the register notes that you can add one under Settings → Delivery, and the fee will be 0 until you do.
Delivery at checkout
At the register, the Fulfillment section offers:
- Pickup in store: the customer collects at the store.
- Ship to address: choose a delivery profile and enter the recipient name, address, city and delivery notes.
The delivery fee is added to the order, and the cart shows the subtotal, delivery and total.
The Deliveries board

Open Deliveries in the Insights section of the menu to track order fulfilment. The delivery queue can be filtered by status:
- Pending
- Packed
- Shipped
- Out for delivery
- Delivered
- Cancelled
From an order's detail in Orders, you can also see its fulfilment type and jump to the Deliveries board.
Why a delivery board matters
Without a central list, deliveries live in a WhatsApp chat and a rider's memory. Orders get forgotten, customers call asking "where is my order?" and nobody knows the answer. A status board gives everyone the same view:
- Staff know what to pack next.
- Riders know what is ready.
- Managers see what is late.
- Customers get accurate answers.

Designing your delivery profiles
A few practical considerations:
- Cover your costs. Include fuel, rider time and packaging in the fee.
- Use minimum orders to make deliveries worthwhile.
- Set honest ETAs. It is better to arrive early than late.
- Create zones with different fees for near and far areas.
- Review profitability of delivery orders in your reports.
Working with your online storefront
Deliveries pair naturally with our Xduka POS online storefront, where shoppers browse your catalog and pay with secure hosted checkout. Delivery profiles help you offer clear fees and timings to online customers.
A delivery routine
For example, say a minimart in Kisumu offers evening deliveries:
- Orders come in at the counter, by phone or online, marked Ship to address.
- A staff member checks the board for Pending orders and packs them, updating to Packed.
- The rider collects packed orders: Shipped, then Out for delivery.
- Once handed over, the order is marked Delivered.
- At closing, the manager checks that nothing is stuck in an earlier status.
Quick checklist
- Create delivery profiles in Settings → Delivery, with fee, minimum order and ETA.
- Choose a default profile.
- Train cashiers to choose Ship to address and capture recipient details.
- Assign someone to watch the Deliveries board.
- Update statuses as orders move from Pending to Delivered.
- Review the board at closing for anything stuck.
Tips for riders and packers
- Pack from the board, not from memory, and update the status as soon as an order is packed.
- Double-check the recipient name, address and notes before the order leaves.
- Group deliveries by area to save time and fuel.
- Mark orders delivered promptly so the board stays accurate.
- Record cancellations rather than leaving orders stuck in an earlier status.
These habits keep the Deliveries board trustworthy, which is what makes it useful.
