How to Read a Product Listing Like a Pro: Condition, Specs, Seller and Delivery

A product listing tells you far more than the price, if you know where to look. Learn how to read condition, specifications, seller details and delivery information before you buy.

Paysasa Team12 Oct 2026

Two listings can show the same product at almost the same price, yet one leads to a happy purchase and the other to a frustrating return. The difference is usually in the details, and those details are right there on the page.

This guide walks through a typical product page and explains what each part is telling you. We use our own product pages on Airsoko as the example, but the same skills work anywhere you shop online.

Start with the photos

Photos are the first thing you see and the easiest to misread.

  • Look for several angles. A single image hides scratches, missing parts and size.
  • Compare photos with the title. If the title says "black" and the photos show grey, ask before buying.
  • Be careful with second-hand items that only use stock images. For used goods you want to see the actual item.

Understand the price you are looking at

Many listings show two prices: the current price and a crossed-out higher price, often with a percentage off. On Airsoko this appears as the selling price, the original price and a discount label such as "20 % OFF".

A discount is useful information, but the real question is whether the current price is good compared with similar items. Our product pages show "More items you may like" from the same category, which makes quick comparison easy.

Read condition and unit carefully

Condition is one of the most important fields and one of the most ignored. Our product pages show the condition (for example "Condition: New"), the unit (for example "Unit: piece") and any minimum order.

Why it matters:

  • Condition affects returns. A product sold as new must arrive new. Our seller rules treat selling used or refurbished items as brand new as a serious violation.
  • Unit tells you what one "item" means. A piece, a pack, a carton and a kilogram are very different purchases.
  • Minimum order tells you the smallest quantity you can buy.

Go through the description and specifications

The description should answer the questions you would ask in a shop. For an electric kettle, for example: capacity, wattage, cordless or not, auto shut-off, boil-dry protection. For clothing: sizes, material and fit.

A good habit is to write down the two or three specifications that matter most to you before you start browsing. Then check each listing against your list instead of being swayed by photos alone.

If a key detail is missing, use the product Q&A tab or the Message button on the store. Questions and answers also help the next shopper.

Check the seller, not just the product

On a marketplace, who sells the item matters as much as the item itself. On Airsoko, the product page shows the store name, its rating and number of reviews, a button to message the store and a link to follow it. Some stores carry an Official label, and the Official Stores page lists verified brand and manufacturer stores.

Open the store page and look at:

  • Reviews from other buyers.
  • Other products. A consistent, well-described catalogue is a good sign.
  • About information that tells you who you are dealing with.

Make sense of delivery information

Delivery details are easy to skip and expensive to ignore. Our product pages tell you who ships the item (for example "Shipped by seller"), where it ships from, a delivery information note, and a Ship To selector. Choose your location and the page calculates a delivery estimate.

Ask three questions:

  1. Does it ship to me? Choose your actual delivery location.
  2. How long will it take? Plan around events and deadlines.
  3. What does delivery cost? Add it to the price before comparing.

Do not skip availability and returns

Availability (for example "In Stock") tells you whether you can expect the item to ship soon. Returns information tells you what happens if it does not work out. Our Returns Policy covers the general return window, non-returnable categories and how we process refunds. Individual sellers may have additional terms.

A 60-second listing checklist

Before you tap Add to Cart or Buy Now, run through this:

  • Photos match the title and show the real item.
  • The price is fair compared with similar listings, delivery included.
  • Condition, unit and minimum order are clear.
  • The specifications that matter to you are stated.
  • The store has a page, reviews and contact options.
  • Delivery to your location is possible and the estimate works for you.
  • You know the return rules for this type of item.

A minute well spent

Reading a listing well is a small skill with a big payoff: fewer returns, fewer surprises and more confidence in what you buy. The information is almost always on the page. It just takes a minute to look.

Put your new skills to work and explore thousands of listings on Airsoko.
