Photos catch a shopper's eye. Descriptions close the sale. A clear, honest description answers the questions a customer would ask if they were standing in your shop, and it does so before they have to ask.
This guide gives you a simple structure for titles and descriptions that works across categories, with tips specific to selling on our marketplace.
Start with a title that tells the truth
The title is the most-read text on your listing. A good title includes:
- Brand, if it is branded.
- Product type.
- The one or two specifications shoppers filter by, such as capacity, size or storage.
- Colour or variant, if relevant.
For example, "Cordless Electric Kettle 1.7 Litres, White and Blue" tells a shopper far more than "Nice kettle, best price".
Avoid stuffing titles with unrelated keywords. It looks untrustworthy, and our Sanction Policy addresses repeated inaccurate listings.
Use a simple description formula

1. A short introduction
Two or three sentences on what the product is, who it is for and the main benefit. Write the way you would speak to a customer.
2. Key features as bullet points
Five to eight bullets, each one a concrete feature. For a kettle: cordless design, automatic shut-off, boil-dry protection, water level window, detachable filter.
3. Specifications and what is included
List measurable facts: dimensions, weight, capacity, wattage, materials, model number. Then list exactly what is in the box. Our Returns Policy lists missing parts among valid return reasons, so being precise protects you.
Use the structured fields too
Marketplaces give you more than a free-text box. Our product form, in the seller dashboard at admin.airsoko.com, includes fields such as condition, unit, brand, tags, SKU, barcode, weight, variants (options like size or colour) and a search engine listing section with an SEO title and description.
Fill these in carefully:
- Condition must match reality. Selling used or refurbished items as new is treated as a serious violation on our marketplace.
- Unit tells shoppers whether they are buying a piece, a pack or a kilogram.
- Variants keep sizes and colours under one listing instead of many confusing duplicates.
- SEO title and description help your product show up well in search engines.
Answer questions before they are asked
The best descriptions anticipate doubts. Read your own listing as a cautious shopper and check it answers these:

- What exactly is it, and what size or model?
- What condition is it in?
- What comes with it?
- How will it reach me, and roughly when?
- What if it does not work out?
- Who can I ask if I am unsure?
On Airsoko, shoppers can use product Q&A and Message the store. Questions you receive often are a sign your description needs another line.
Write for real people
- Be specific, not superlative. "Boils 1.7 litres" beats "amazing super kettle".
- Use short sentences and bullets. Many shoppers read on phones.
- Use familiar words. If your customers say "sufuria", it is fine to include that word alongside "cooking pot".
- Be honest about limitations. "Not suitable for induction hobs" prevents a return.
Category examples
Fashion
Include material, fit, size guide and care instructions. Mention whether colours may vary slightly due to screens.
Electronics
Include model number, compatibility, power requirements, warranty information if any, and every accessory.
Books and digital goods
Include author, format, language and length. For digital downloads, explain how the buyer receives the file. Under our Returns Policy, digital downloads and software are non-returnable once downloaded or opened, unless defective or not as described.
Keep descriptions up to date
Products change. Packaging is redesigned, accessories are swapped and models are updated. Review your best sellers every few months and update any detail that has changed. Accurate stock and prices matter too: we advise sellers to set quantity to zero when they cannot fulfil an item, to avoid cancellations.
A quick before-and-after
Here is an example. A weak description might read: "Nice bag, good quality, many colours, order now." A stronger one reads: "Faux leather backpack with a padded laptop sleeve that fits most 15-inch laptops. Two zip pockets, adjustable straps, available in black and brown. Measures about 40 x 30 cm. Wipe clean with a damp cloth." The second version answers size, fit, materials and care, so the shopper can decide without messaging you.
Clear, specific and honest
A trustworthy description is clear, specific and honest. Use a strong title, a short introduction, feature bullets and full specifications, and fill in the structured fields. Shoppers will buy with more confidence, and you will spend less time on returns and questions.
Put it into practice: start selling on Airsoko and list your first product from the seller dashboard.
